5th Annual SiX Legislator
Omni Shoreham Hotel, Washington, D.C.

SiX’s 5th annual conference will be December 3-4, 2018. Over the last four years, more than 1,000 legislators have participated from all 50 states.

The annual conference is a unique opportunity for legislators from across the country who share progressive values to come together and build a stronger national progressive community.

Legislators have the opportunity to network, learn from national policy experts and organizational leaders, strategize, and exchange policy ideas and best practices with their colleagues in other states. At SiX, investing in the professional growth of a new generation of progressive leaders is at the core of our mission.

Over this two-day conference, participants will be able to participate in:

  • Training for Newly Elected Legislators
  • National and State Polling and Messaging Briefings
  • Policy Presentations from National Progressive Leaders, Policy Experts, and Legislators on a variety of issues, including economic and workplace policies, democracy, education, health care, environmental protections, civil rights issues, immigration and reproductive rights.
  • Trainings and Skill-Building Seminars on Effective Governance and Communications
  • Special Programming for SiX’s Reproductive Freedom Leadership Council (RFLC), a cohort of over 270 state legislators from 43 states dedicated to leading on reproductive rights, health, and justice.
  • Keynote Speakers: Past speakers have included Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, and many more.

The 2018 SiX Legislator Conference will come at an especially crucial time. The 2019 legislative session could offer major opportunities to enact progressive policies across dozens of states with new progressive majorities for the first time in a decade. The conference will offer strategies and guidance for legislators in red and split states to take advantage of progressive momentum as well. Our 5th annual convening will be an essential forum to help legislators prepare for this new era, gain new ideas, and lift each other up.

Newly elected legislators (elected as of Nov 2018), those who have never attended a SiX conference before, and diverse candidates are especially encouraged to apply. Space is limited, so apply now!

A core focus for the SiX Annual Conference this year is to ensure we are able to bring in as many newly elected legislators as possible. We continue to want partner involvement and hope to provide space for a robust mix of partners at the conference. However, we are balancing our priority of maximizing legislator attendance with more limited space than past years. With this priority, though partners are still able to apply to attend now, we will not be able to provide you an answer about your participation until after November 15th. We appreciate your interest and patience with the timing.
